

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 2, 2011 at The Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 1, 2011at the mortuary. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Genesis VNA Hospice or to Catfish Jazz Society. Charlotte was born on May 29, 1917 in Rock Island, the daughter of Matthew and Ethel (Stapleton) Ewing. Earlier in life she had been married to Albert E. Hatfield on July 14, 1938 in Rock Island.
Charlotte was employed as a secretary with the State of Illinois Division of Unemployment Compensation, retiring in 1979. She was a life long professional musician who mainly played the accordion and vibes. She was very accomplished with several other instruments. During WWII she started an all girls band which performed locally. Charlotte also was a published poet and had won several poetry contests locally and state wide. She was a member of the Quint City Poets, Catfish Jazz Society, and Local Musicians AF of M.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter Danna (Hal) Scott of Davenport, Son Larry (Arlene) Hatfield, El Sobrante, CA; grandchildren Dawn (Greg) Mannon, Phoenix, AZ, Jarrad (Jenny Mason) Scott, Gaithersberg, MD, Heather Hornbrook, Benicia, CA, Penelope (Stephen) Thompson, San Jose, CA, and Sarah Hatfield, Walnut Creek, CA; great grandchildren, Kayla Hornbrook, Joshua Hornbrook, Luke Hornbrook, Carson, and Quincy Thompson; dedicated and loving care giver, Theresa Medina.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, and twin brothers Harry and Harold Ewing.
