There will be a visitation 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Runge Mortuary Davenport, IA. David’s funeral service will follow at 2:00pm Friday in the Runge Chapel. Condolences may be shared at www.rungemortuary.com.
David was born Nov. 21, 1963 Chicago IL. David grew up in Chicago IL and attended Lakeview High School where he was well known. He later attended Blackhawk College in Moline IL.
David was a maintenance man for several apartment complexes and worked at Arch mirror in Bettendorf for several years. He later decided to try the restaurant industry. David worked at Thunder Bay Grill and Biaggi’s just to name a couple and he found his place at Hotel Blackhawk where he has worked as a cook for the last 10 years.
David loved spending time with family here and back home in Chicago. He enjoyed talking to people, cooking and would tell you he was a top notch chef. David was an avid dog lover and a diehard Green Bay Packer fan but above everything; David truly enjoyed and cherished his time watching his boys play sports and having the opportunity to help coach them in Dad’s club soccer.
David will always be remembered for his humble spirit and very caring and kind heart. He was always willing to help others. Very independent, most would say they never really heard him complain.
Those left to celebrate his life include his children Timothy (Jalise) Angel, Gemira Houston, Kendrick Tyson, Darsheem Shears, all of Davenport and a host of grandchildren. Two sister’s Tina Johnson of Chicago IL and Constance Diaz (Nardi) of Davenport IA; his grandmother Corene Hawthorne of Chicago; many aunt’s; an uncle; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Sherry Ellis.
He was proceeded in death by his Mother and Father, Florine and David Johnson Sr. and brothers Johnny and Turon Johnson.
Heaven is rejoicing to welcome home David “Hutch” Johnson who is now your guardian angel.
