

Funeral services for David E. Mason, 85 of Bettendorf will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial with military honors will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Moline. The family will greet friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary with a Masonic service to follow immediately at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Mason passed from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 20, 2020.
David Edward Mason was born on January 17, 1935 in Oskaloosa, IA the son of John and Dorothy (Bartlow) Mason. He was raised in Oskaloosa by his grandparents, George and Liddie Bartlow.
David enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Army. Following his military duties he married Carolyn Watson on November 3, 1956 in Silvis, Il. He worked as an accountant for several area companies eventually retiring from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1997.
David cherished his family, kids, and grand-kids. His favorite time of the year was Halloween and he was known to pass out squawkers and not candy. He was very active in the Masonic circles. Some of his memberships include the Hamilton Lodge, the Early Morning Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, the York Rite, the Consistory, Shrine, Amanrath, and the Scottish Rite. He was also a charter member of the Bettendorf Children's Museum. If you met David he would tell you that 'God has been good to me and I have had a good life'
Surviving members of the family include - his 5 children: Michael Mason, Annette (Fred) Ealy, Pamela Serrano, Judith Nichols, and Sandra (Stephen) Phillips; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn, a grandson Christopher, a sister Shirley, a brother Jerry, and a son-in-law Ralph.
Memorials may be left to either Camp Courageous or the Shriner's.
