

Dennis L. Miller died at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice, Bettendorf, IA on Sunday, September 10, 2017. His body has been cremated. There will be a visitation on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 4–6 pm and a time for sharing memories at 6 pm at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary.Dennis was born in Thief River Falls, MN on March 18, 1934, the son of Clem Miller and Jessie Drinkwater Miller. He attended the University of Iowa where he received a BA in 1955 and went to medical school graduating June 12, 1959 and marrying Patricia A. Plummer on the same day. He served several internships at Philadelphia General Hospital (1959), General Surgery Residency at VA, Iowa City (1960), Orthopedic Surgery Residency, U of Texas, Galveston (1961), and the US Public Health Service in New York City (1965). He was president of Scott County Medical Society (1979). With a love for arts and jazz, he was a board member of the Quad City Arts, QC Visiting Artist Series (President 1980), and Ballet Quad Cities. Dennis was also a founding board member of Community Health Care. Dennis was an avid traveler, sailor, and tennis player. In his youth, he was an Eagle Scout attending both the US (1950) and World (1951) Jamboree. Dennis loved life and will be forever loved and missed. Dennis is survived by four children: Susan (Bill) Waers; Sarah Miller; Rebecca Watson; David E. Miller; sister, Marilyn MacDonald; brother, David R. (Sharon) Miller; sister-in-law, Suzanne Kendrick, as well as grandchildren William Waers, Peter, Andrew, and Eleanor Watson. His wife, Pat and his parents preceded him in death.Memorial gifts may be made to Quad City Arts, 1715 Second Avenue, Rock Island, IL 61201, Clarissa C.
