Derrick Verona

Derrick Verona, 42, of Davenport passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at the church. Memorials may be made to the family.

Derrick was born on February 8, 1975 in Peoria, IL the son of John and Pamela (Nicholson) Verona. He attended St. Ann’s Catholic Elementary School, East Moline and graduated from UT High School, East Moline. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Marshalltown Community College, Marshalltown, IA. Derrick continued his education at William Penn University, Pella, IA and University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. Derrick worked for Mariposa Farms as a greenhouse technician in Grinnell and layout builder for Jeld-Wen/Doorcraft, also in Grinnell. He also worked at the Fridley Movie Theatre and Video Store in Grinnell, Iowa. His interests included family, sports, science, hiking, computers and music. Those left to honor his memory include his parents; sister, Erin (Mick) Magner, Rock Island; son, Avery Verona, Grinnell, IA; daughter, Hailey Buban, Grinnell, IA; and nieces, Elle and Ava Jennings.
