

Donald H. Luethje, 93, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at his home. Services to honor his memory will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Figge Art Museum or Bethphage Mission.
Donald was born on September 20, 1932, in Davenport, Iowa, to Herbert and Mildred (Schnack) Luethje. He graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture. Donald was united in marriage to Janet Garner on June 25, 1961. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2025.
Donald worked for Richard and Associates as an architect, where he designed several buildings throughout Davenport, including Buchanan Elementary School, Eisenhower Elementary School, and multiple branch banks for Davenport Bank and Trust. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Davenport Rotary. During his retirement years, Donald enjoyed international travel, visiting Greece, the Egyptian Pyramids, and the Terracotta Soldiers and the Great Wall of China.
Donald is survived by his children, Julie (Mark) Filips and Steve (Kristen) Luethje; grandchildren Michelle (Austin “Cade”) Rea, Scott Filips, Ryan Luethje, and Eric Luethje; great-grandson Luke Rea; his sister, Sally Skillicorn, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Delores Kreiter.
