

Doris Christine Chapman, 76, of Bettendorf, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital. Services to celebrate her life will be Monday February 9, 2026, at noon at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 am until the service at noon, at the mortuary. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Chris was born in Moline, on September 21, 1949. She was the daughter of Clifford C. and Doris V. (Randall) Martin. She graduated from United Township High School in 1967 and went on to graduate from Black Hawk Community College.
She was united in marriage to Michael Chapman on March 2, 1969, in East Moline, IL.
Chris worked several jobs in the area including Kaybee Toy & Hobby, the Illinois State Mental Hospital in East Moline and most recently worked in the corporate office at Von Maur where she served as an auditor. She would often go to Masonic events with her husband, Mike and was known as the “1st Lady of Kaaba Shrine” in 2008 and 2018. She served as an auxiliary policewoman for the city of Cordova for several years. In earlier years, she was a member of Watertown Baptist Church in Moline and Fairbury Methodist Church in Fairbury, IL as well as bowled and played softball on area leagues.
In her free time, Chris enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Most of all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, Mike, children: Michael John (Rayan) Chapman, rural Columbus Junction; Michelle Newberry, Davenport, Lenore (Aaron) Johnson, Iowa City, Audrey (Tim) Schnuriger, Bettendorf, Molly (Chris) York, Cambridge, IL and Sarah )Matt) Lapka, North Liberty, IA; 17 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, siblings: Mary Close, Crestview, FL, Clifford G. (Maria) Martin, East Moline, Shirley Rhoads, Coal Valley and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and sister, Susan Lott preceded in her in death.
