Dorothy D. Hayes

Funeral services for Dorothy D. Hayes, 92, of Davenport will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon on Tuesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Mrs. Hayes passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Senior Star in Davenport. Dorothy Darlene Folsom was born on July 16, 1925 in Dixon, IA, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Wulf) Folsom. On April 24, 1943, she married Charles R. Hayes in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 2008. Dorothy worked at Continental Bakery for 17 years prior to her retirement in 1967. In her early years, she enjoyed dancing, crocheting, playing Canasta, and fishing. Throughout her life, Dorothy also enjoyed reading mystery novels. She is survived by a Daughter: Marcia Meier of Davenport; Son: Chuck (Marcia) Hayes of Bettendorf; 4 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Peggy Ann (Dennis) Dietz of West Lafayette, IN; and Dear Friend and Sister-in-Law: Ruth Denekas of Davenport. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Folsom; and a son-in-law, Gary Meier. Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
