Dorothy K. Moorhead

Dorothy K. Moorhead, 96, of rural Blue Grass passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm, Friday, June 12, 2015 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 12 Noon-2 pm Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue Grass Presbyterian Church, Moody Radio Station WDLM or Genesis Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Dorothy was born October 8, 1918 in Rock Island, Illinois, a daughter of Charles and Clara (Barber) Boynton. She married Charles I. Moorhead, Jr. in 1951. He preceded her in death in 2001. Her memberships included the Blue Grass Presbyterian Church, where she had served in many capacities over the years and the Scott County Farm Bureau. Dorothy was an artist and enjoyed writing poetry. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and tending flowers at her Century Farm home. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Rhoades, sons Kevin (Cindy) Moorhead and Craig (Laura) Moorhead and grandchildren Kyle Moorhead and Alyssa Moorhead. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, George Roades and eight siblings: John, Jenny, Bob, Mabel, Florence, Elizabeth, Ben and Richard.
