

Memorial services for Dr. John A. Browner, D.D.S., 69, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. Inurnment will be at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #26. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Dr. Browner passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Iowa City, IA. John Anthony Browner was born in Davenport on August 5, 1941, the son of Oscar and Minnie (Bell) Browner. He served as a medic and dentist in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. On December 2, 1978, he married Shirley Schaubschlager in Davenport. Dr. Browner owned and operated his dental practice in Davenport. He was a member of Progressive Baptist Church. He is survived by his Wife: Shirley of Davenport; two Sons: Brent (Emily) Browner of Las Vegas, NV, Jon Browner of Roanoke, VA; three Sisters: Lenora Harris of Davenport, Arthurlene Johnson of Davenport, Elenora Crichlow of Denver, CO; a Half-Sister: Aretha Browner of Georgia; two Nieces: Diana (Rev. Daryl) Porter of Atlanta, GA, Belita (Kelvin) Harris-Rummels of Davenport; three Nephews: Frederick (Teresa) Harris of Davenport, Gregory (Cher Marie) Crichlow of Denver, CO, Brian Crichlow of New York; three Grandchildren, including his youngest granddaughter: Malia Browner of Las Vegas, NV; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Minnie Sims; a nephew: Gregory Harris; and a brother-in-law: Fred Harris. Memorials may be directed to the family.
