Earl E. Fredericks

Graveside memorial services for Earl E. Fredericks, 88, of Davenport, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Davenport Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded as was his wish. Mr. Fredericks died on October 9, 2011 at the Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, IA. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Earl Edward Fredericks was born June 18, 1923 in Hampton, Iowa, the son of John D. and Emelia (Parrmann) Fredericks. He married Lucille Hootman on September 14, 1944. She passed away on April 18, 2008.Mr. Fredericks graduated with the class of 1941 from Hampton (IA) High School. After moving to Davenport in 1943 he began work at the Rock Island Arsenal during WWII. Later, he worked 9 years at the former Englehart Manufacturing as a machinist and in 1952 went to work for Mast Development for an additional 11 years. In 1964, he returned to the Rock Island Arsenal as a model maker in Rodman Laboratory and also in the tool room. He retired from the Arsenal in 1986 after 26 years of service. Earl belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport for over 50 years and also served as a member of the finance committee.Survivors include 2 sons: Rick (Sheila) Fredericks of Hartland, WI, David (Sylvia) Fredericks of Fairfield, IA; 4 granddaughters: Sarah Fredericks of Denton, TX, Stephanie (Shaun) Callan of Hartland, WI, Rachel Fredericks of Seattle, WA and Natalie (Bradley) Sayers of Milwaukee, WI.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Lucille of 64 years, a brother: Roy, and a sister: Ruth.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research, National Psoriasis Foundation or First Lutheran Church.
