Edie was born on May 18, 1964 in Romania, the daughter of Aladar and Anna Szeker. She was united in marriage to Randy Schnack on October 18, 1997 in their home in Bettendorf.
Edie graduated from Davenport West High School and from St. Ambrose University. She had been employed at Leslie Florsheim Shoes, Younkers, Family Credit Union and lastly at American Bank. She was spiritual, but not religious. She prayed not for herself but for her family and everyone else. She loved to laugh and was so alive and colorful. Anyone who was in her house knows that. Edie was a very strong person to have been through what she went through. She was a master gardener, loved crossword puzzles, the Caribbean, the beach, and to dance. She enjoyed spending time with her niece and nephew as well as the neighbor girls. Randy and Edie took ballroom lessons and would dance in the kitchen while cooking. They were “When Harry Met Sally” best friends first! They had a true unconditional love. She was there for Randy when he rolled his truck and when he crashed at RAGBRAI. She was active in the Red Cross. She regretted not getting to New Orleans after Katrina but was happy and proud to help flood victims in Pennsylvania. She also loved seafood and barbeque. When traveling to Memphis she ate barbeque for six days straight. When traveling meals were always from a local restaurant.
Those left to honor her memory include, husband, Randy, Eldridge, parents, Al and Anna Szeker, Davenport, sister Julie Newberry, Chatham, Illinois, niece and nephew, Taylor and Evan Newberry, Chatham, Illinois, and Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, and her Father-in-law, Earl Lilienthal.
