

Edward Samuel Jennings, Jr., 85, of Davenport, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, November 20, 2014. Ed had firmly told his family that he doesn’t wish for a funeral. Instead, a Celebration of his Life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Church 6317 W. River Drive, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Ed’s family requests no floral arrangements; memorials may be made to Hillcrest Church. Ed was born on June 17, 1929 in Davenport, IA, the son of Edward S. and Nettie F. (Negus) Jennings, Sr. He was united in marriage to Arlene J. Durham on July 2, 1955 in Davenport.
Ed was a faithful member at Hillcrest Church and the Moose Lodge, served his country in the Army and is a Korean War Veteran. He was a master mechanic with International Harvester and retired from the city of Davenport as maintenance garage supervisor. Ed loved to be busy and constantly working. His first love was Jesus Christ, then his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He loved working his hands from mechanics to carpentry to home repairs.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; brother, Robert Jennings; son, Rick Jennings; daughters, Ronda Jennings and Stacy (Tom) Petersen; grandchildren, Renee (Rob) Quinn, Felisha (Jason) Bunten, Sarah (Jamie) Fisher-Tingley, Jessie (Jason) Bak; Anthony Fisher, Krystal (Brad) Petersen, Annie Jennings and Rachel Jennings; sixteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and cousins.
Edward was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Burdick; daughter, Sherri Jennings Mace and grandson, Craig Petersen.
