Funeral services for Ellen L. Wilcox, 86, of Davenport will be 11:00 am on Monday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Church, Davenport. The family will greet friends at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday. Entombment will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mrs. Wilcox was born Aug. 13, 1926 in Clinton County, Iowa to George and Adah Martin Hansen. She graduated from Elwood High school and Iowa State Teachers College (U.N.L.) Cedar Falls. She transferred to the University of IA. She taught school at Guttenberg, Clarence, Van Horne Belle Plaine, Tipton and Davenport. She worked as a sales counselor at Davenport Memorial Park from 1984 to 1991. On Aug. 5, 1950 she married William H. Wilcox in Iowa City. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2007. She taught Sunday school at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and earlier at St. Allans. Mrs. Wilcox served as president of the Davenport Evening Lady Lions and was active in the Jaycees, Davenport Junior Women's Club receiving “Woman of the Year Award” in 1964. From 1964 to 1966 she served as Junior Director of all Junior Women's Clubs in the Iowa and then public office in GFWC 1966 to 1968. Also she enjoyed dancing, traveling, oil painting and a mother and a homemaker. Survivors include one son; Richard of Davenport, daughters; Mrs. Lisa Lord of Shreveport, LA and Tana of Santa Barbara, CA, grandsons; Michael Lord and Brian Lord and one granddaughter, Sarah Lord.
