Florence S. Kulbieda

Funeral services for Florence S. Kulbieda, 89, of Davenport will be held 11:30AM Monday April 23, 2012 at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory, Davenport.

Visitation will be one hour before the service to celebrate her life. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Florence died on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at home where she received loving care from her two daughters and Genesis Hospice. Florence was born March 4, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Sophia (Smyk) Kabala. She married Henry "Hank" Kulbieda on September 22, 1945 in Davenport. They met in Chicago where she was standing at a juke box and Hank, a young soldier, came up beside her, dropped in a coin asking her what she'd like to hear. She worked throughout her life with her last place of employment being the Wonder-Hostess Bakery offices in Davenport. Florence never realized how many lives she touched. The greatest life lesson she lived was to be a good listener. Always thoughtful and kind, she was one of a compassionate ear, caring smile, warm words of encouragement and laughter. She will continue to do so in our hearts. Florence is survived by her two daughters Connie Kulbieda, Davenport, Debbie Beck, Davenport, grandson and his wife Stuart and Michele Beck, Las Vegas, Nevada and sister Carol Munger, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Charles "Chuck" and Theodore "Ted" Kabala and son-in-law, Douglas Beck.
