

Frank Albert “Al” Gruber, 79, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Genesis East Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday from noon until the service at 2 pm, at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.
Al was born September 21, 1936 in Des Moines, IA; the son of Frank and Bernice (Cutshall) Gruber. He worked as a tool and die maker for Case IH, formerly Farmall for 29 years prior to his retirement.
Al bred and raised gladiolas for over forty years. He sold them to area florists and at the Farmer’s Market. He attended various national conventions and was a member of the National Gladiola Society and the Illinois Gladiola Society. He also was a beekeeper in the Quad City area for many years.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Norma; daughters: Diana (Jeff) Tank, Wheatland, IA; Tammy (Steve) Franklin, Naples, FL; Debbie (Devin) Drake, Denton, TX and Denise Dietz, Davenport and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Julie Price and a sister, Bernice Rosemary Barrow.
