

Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family graveside service will be held in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made in Gary’s name to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
Gary was born on April 12, 1957, in Rushville, IL, to William “Bill” and Elaine (Runkle) Follis. He married Tammy Gearhart and they share two sons, Kirkland and Perry, but they later divorced. Gary retired 20 years after serving his country in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, he received numerous accommodations and awards. He loved to share stories about being a mechanic and working on jets.
Gary was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan and also enjoyed NASCAR. He liked watching old military movies, especially Top Gun. His pride and joy was his 2007 Mustang.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Kirkland (Samantha) Follis of Scottsboro, AL, and Perry (Kara) Follis of Kaysville, UT; siblings: Sherry (Mel) Goering of Highlandville, MO, Jackie Guldenpfennig of Davenport, IA, Brenda (Jim) Quinlan of Davenport, IA, Marty (Alicia) Follis of Grove, OK, and Tony Follis of buffalo, IA; stepmother, Elaine (Follis) Bernauer of Davenport, IA; grandchildren: Pete, Nash, Dublin, Alyssia, Christina, Elizabeth, Margarette, Alexander, Jantzen, and Caroline; along with many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bryon Guldenpfennig.
