Gene L. Young

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Gene was born August 15, 1932 to George and Margaret (Goucher) Young in Decatur, IA. In 1952, he was united in marriage to Beverly Swarb. Gene was employed at LaFarge (Continental Cement) and retired after 30 years of service.

Gene enjoyed going to garage sales, antiquing, feeding birds and squirrels, and eagle statues. He also liked going to Las Vegas, gambling, and playing pinochle with relatives. Gene enjoyed old country music and movies.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Robert) Nelson and Carolyn Nosa, both of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Jennifer (Don Ogden) Fey, Brian (Laura) Nelson, Deven (April) Nosa, and Brett Nosa (Melissa McGivern); great grandchildren, Colton Nelson (Angela Johnson), Madeline Nelson, Emily Nelson (Andres Sancen), Caleb and Jacob Fey, Dustin Toler, Rilynn, Stormie, Cole and Bronx Nosa, Christian and Bryson Nosa, and Destiny McGivern.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Young; sisters, Georgie, Muriel, Catherine, Edna and Ermadean; brothers, Cecil, Dick, Clifford and George; and great granddaughter, Chelsea Fey.
