Genevieve Wallace

Genevieve Wallace, 85, of Bettendorf, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehab Center in Rock Island. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 1:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 am until the service, at the mortuary. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Genevieve was born March 12, 1927 in Ava, MO; the daughter of Walter and Stella (Lakey) Fitzgerald. She married Lester Wallace in 1949 in Ava, MO; he preceded her in death on January 25, 2012. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bettendorf. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed needlework, especially crocheting and tatting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her children and spouses: Brenda and Chris Gingry, Joe and Claudia Wallace, Lisa and Tracy Van Damme; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Robin Wallace.

Her parents and sons Larry and Ron preceded her in death.
