Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of George Gravert on Friday July 17th, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, at the George Gravert Twin Springs Ranch, located at 52240 Hwy 52, Miles, Iowa 52064.Lee ChristrofGeorge was one of my oldest and best friends. He could always figure things out, whatever it was, from how to build something to what’s the best ice fishing jig to use to where to stand on a deer hunt. The one thing he had totally figured out was how to make people happy. Anyone that knew George would tell you the same thing. He could always stay positive and upbeat in a bad situation. He was a son, a brother and to all a true friend. He always had time to chat or help out regardless of how busy he was. He leaves behind a legacy of people he has helped and loved. All that knew him will pass along this love, knowledge and friendship he shared with us. He would always say “Just figure out what you have to do and get it done”. It was easy for him to say because he had it all figured out already – Just by being himself.Ben DruryGeorge was born into a mid-western farm family the youngest of 4 children. His parents possessed a strong work ethic that was passed along to each sibling. The underling difference in the children was Geo inherited an untamable rather rambunctious side that to this day could not and would not be held within its boundaries. He had the ability to manifest any situation into stories that sometimes turned into tall tales, some into legends. His exploits would be known throughout the community and beyond the physical boundaries they encompassed. From an early age this rambunctious child was drawn into situations that usually ended up with a verbal reprimanding and sometimes a good old smack to the back of the head. Not one to dwell on the punishment, it was soon forgotten and he was off with fellow neighborhood comrades to find the next great adventure. Some of his adventures included urinating out of the second floor window in the dark while his parents tried to sleep below. Another time he built a snowman filled with rocks that his unsuspecting brothers plowed into with their sleds. The snowman prank resulted in an exclusive brother whopping that Geo never forgot. Yet another time he pulled a fire extinguisher pin in an enclosed cargo container and there were three kids trying to exit the same small escape hole at the same time.Into his teenage years he continued to develop his skills more intensively and as an adult they were on full display for everyone to be inspired. Geo had many friends and each one at some point in time was blessed with the ability to be part of these legendary adventures. Geo loved to hunt and he was always in the right place at the right time. He also liked to fish but most of his friends could out fish him. He loved dogs and horses and also appreciated a good pipe. He was known to “pull the cork” for medicinal purposes. While Geo was only 51 at the time of his passing he had done more living in that time than most people will do in a lifetime. He was always the last one to lay down and the first one to get back up. His internal drive motivated him to consistently work seven days a week. He fully and completely embraced his life, no matter what obstacle he was confronted with.He is survived by his children, Riley and Levi, their mother, Gena Hummel, his loving girlfriend, Vanessa Anderson, parents; Glenn and Ada Gravert, brothers; Mitch (Leana) Gravert, Guy (Michelle) Gravert, and sister; Terri (Joe) Preston. His love for his family was immeasurable and his love and appreciation for his friends were second to none.Memorials may be directed to the George Gravert Benefit Account at 49511 106th Street, Miles, Iowa 52046.George Ernst Gravert was a giant among men and a legend that will not soon be forgotten.Remembrances and condolences may be made to the family and www.cunnick-collins.com.
