Gerald R. “Jake” Comer, 71, of Davenport passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at Unity Point-Bettendorf. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the mortuary. Entombment will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Gerald was born March 21, 1942 in Davenport, IA, the son of Amos and Marguerite (Markham) Comer. He worked as a welder for John Deere for 24 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed playing poker and was an avid Packers fan.
Those left to honor his memory include his children: Gerald (Pam) Comer, Jr. and Dana (Mark) Skinner, all of Davenport; grandchildren: Shannon, Sara, Mark, Matthew and Aaron; one great grandchild, Ava; brother, Clifford (Sylvia) Comer, Maui, Hawaii and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters and one brother.
