Geraldine M. Witt

Geraldine M. Witt, 91, of Davenport, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 in the comfort of her own home after a courageous battle with leukemia with the love of her children and grandchildren around her. She is at peace and for that her family is thankful. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or a charity of your choice. Geraldine was born on November 2, 1922 in Davenport, IA, a daughter of Herman Gustave Authur and Norma Sophia Julianna (Wagner) Doll. She was a graduate of Davenport High School and was united in marriage to Charles Witt on September 29, 1944 in Holland, MI. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker, past member of both Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and raised five children and made many friends. She especially enjoyed playing bridge and her Fair Avenue coffee group.

Survivors include her children: Charles Witt, Davenport, Jennifer Pike, Maypearl, TX, Bradley Witt, Davenport, Melissa Witt, Davenport and Melanie Witt, Davenport; grandchildren Shawn Witt, Otwell, IN, Michelle Kirk, Pittsburgh, PA, Dawn Robinette, Austin, TX, Angela Witt, Pittsburgh, PA, Sarah Witt, Chicago, IL, Peter Witt, Davenport, and Katy Witt, Asheville, NC; as well as three great grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles George Witt; and her brothers, Clifford, Rodney and Stephen Doll.

The family wishes to express many thanks to the caring Oncology nurses and Infusion Center at Genesis Hospital for their outstanding care and to the Genesis Hospice Program.
