Gertrude "Trudy" J. Johnson

A service to celebrate the life of Gertrude “Trudy” J. Johnson, 86, of Davenport will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Davenport. Inurnment will be at a later date. Mrs. Johnson passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements. Gertrude Jean Hine was born on January 9, 1926 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Haydn and Della (Eves) Hine. In 1944, she graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, and later attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD where she met her future husband, Robert “Bob” Johnson. They married in August of 1946. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was active with Girl Scouts, serving as a leader and trainer for many years, as well as a loving wife and mother to her family. Trudy loved animals, especially cats, birds, and dogs. Those left to honor her memory include, her Daughters: Judy (Stuart) Johnson-Smith of Bradenton, FL, Diana (Greg) Glandon of Davenport, Debbie (Doug) Arthur of Papillion, NE; her Son: Rick Johnson of Bettendorf; 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Johnson, in 1991. Memorials may be directed to the Scott County Humane Society.
