

Gloria Nadine Dexter, 95, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at Ridgecrest Village of Davenport. A private service will be held Wednesday, November 5th, 2025 at Weerts Funeral Home and burial is to take place at Davenport Memorial Park. Gloria will be buried next to her loving husband, Gordon O. Dexter.
Gloria was born September 5, 1930 in Rushville, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Frank and Myrtle Brownlow and grew up with 3 brothers and 7 sisters. She married Gordon Dexter on June 8, 1950 in Chadron, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Davenport, where they raised their 2 sons, Gary and Kent.
Gloria was a dedicated homemaker who was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining family on holidays. She got great joy from babysitting her grandchildren who were a big part of her life. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and also taught Sunday school.
Gloria was seldom seen without makeup and almost never without her red lipstick. Gloria and Gordon built a lake cabin at Oakrun that they lovingly called the "Wikiup", and spent many days there with family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Gary (Patricia) Dexter and Kent (Geri) Dexter; 4 grandchildren, Lindsey (Brandon) Dirck, Kyle (Caitlin) Dexter, Paige (Justin) Vanderheyden, and Sydney (Alex) Richardson; 5 great-grandchildren, Haley and Logan Dirck, Evelyn, Violet and Virginia Vanderheyden; 2 sisters, Edith Chicarelli and Virginia Tinsvoldt, and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.
