Gloria J. Mosley, 65, of Davenport, Iowa; passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at home surrounded by her beloved family. Home going celebration to honor her memory will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 11am at Church of God, 1234 Ripley Street. Visitation will begin at 10am.
Gloria was born May 7, 1957 to Nathaniel and Florene Mosley in Kemper County Mississippi. Known for her homemade chicken dressing, Gloria was the life of every party and had the biggest heart. She had an open-door policy and welcomed everyone with open arms and love if they needed a place to stay or a warm meal to eat. She especially loved being "Granny" to her grandchildren. She took pride in her appearance and was very class and elegant. She loved watching soap operas, the Price is Right, Family Feud, and traveling. Gloria loved decorating cookies and coloring Easter eggs, her favorite color is red, and had two favorite sayings: “touch your nose” and “got to be more careful”. During her free time, Gloria could be found bowling, playing cards, spending time with her large family, or cooking a delicious meal for her friends and family. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and would watch the NFL every Sunday. Gloria loved the Lord and was a member of the Truth Deliverance Center.
Those left to honor Gloria’s memory are the love of her life, Tommie L. Chaney; her children Tashuna Mosley, James (Tolanda) Mosley, Lucinda Chaney, Latonya Salter, and Terrell Salter; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings Mary (Robert) Sims, Helen Moslely, Linda Mosley, Melvin Mosley, Nathaniel Mosley, and Junior (Tracy) Mosley; sister-in-law Patricia (JohnnieB) Mosley; special nieces Lakesha Mosley, Brenda Mosley; God-son David Parrow; special friend James Smith; along with a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Gloria is proceeded in death by her parents Nathaniel and Florene, her special mother Ruth Mosley; siblings Juanita Hampton, Wardine Parrow, Dorothy Harris, James Mosley, Roy Lee Mosley, Johnnie B Mosley, Edward Earl Mosley and two infant siblings, Bobby Jean and Carolyn; a special nephew Marcus “Hamp” Hampton; and beloved grandson Ahzeem McWilliams-Smith.
