Due to the COVID 19 pandemic no services will be held at this time. She will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Gloria’s name to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center or Down by the Creek Animal Rescue.
Gloria was born on May 2, 1928, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Peter and Ida (Balducci) Bottari. On June 14, 1947, she married Fred Scherrer. They went on to enjoy 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2006. The couple lived in Durant and Davenport, IA, raising their two daughters. They retired to Tucson, AZ, where Gloria spent 30 years enjoying the sun.
Gloria loved animals and raising birds. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Gloria was an excellent cook and baker. She always made food for others. One of her specialties was raised dinner rolls.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Linda (Tom) Ohlweiler and Regina (Dan) Kress, both of Rock Island, IL; 7 grandhildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; along with her brothers, Lionel Bottari of Chicago, IL, and Robert Bottari of Henderson, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Fred; stepfather, Melvin Herring; grandson, Kris Mann; and brothers, Peter Bottari and Raymond Bottari.
The family would like to thank Centennial Rehab and Healthcare and Unity Point Hospice for their exceptional care and support. The family would also like to extend thanks to her friend Kathy Scott for being a friend until the end.
