Harold Edward Lawson Sr.

DAVENPORT - Visitation for family and friends of Harold E. Lawson Sr., 72, of Davenport, will be Wednesday 3/2/11, 4PM – 7PM at Runge Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at10:00 am. followed by lunch in the Runge community room. Memorials may be directed to the Scott County Humane Society

Harold E. Lawson Sr. passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport after a brief illness.

Harold was born on February 12, 1939, son of Millard and Lillian (Rhodes) Lawson.

He graduated from Davenport High School in 1957 and earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree from the University of Iowa in 1996. He married Jeanne Ruth Hulke in 1958 while serving in the Navy in Norfolk Va. Aboard the Valley Forge and remained active in the reserves for several years, Harold had retired from Kraft Foods / Oscar Mayer in 1996 as crew leader in the powerhouse after 32 years of service. In retirement Harold enjoyed fishing and building computers for family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Ruth, brothers, Robert Lawson, Davenport, and Donald Lawson of Michigan City, Indiana; a sister, Jo (Ann) Lawson of Davenport; daughters, Gina Talk, Jean Wriedt and Laura Blumer, all of Davenport, sons, Ed Lawson and Fred Lawson, both of Davenport, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grand children and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Millard and Lillian Lawson, brothers, Richard James Lawson and Millard E. Lawson, and a sister, Barbara Jean Lawson.
