Hazel E. Smith

Visitation will be held on Friday February 21, 2025, from 5-7 at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel at 10am. Hazel was born on July 14, 1940, in Springfield Illinois to Kenneth and Ester (Applegate) Jones. On September 20, 1961, she was united in marriage to Virgil H. Smith in Davenport Iowa. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2011. Hazel was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed playing Farkle with her sisters and brother-in-laws, socializing with her customers at Hy-Vee and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Moline Church of Christ. She enjoyed the fellowship and spiritual guidance she had there.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Barry (Nicole) Smith, Roxanna (Jerry) Bernauer, Vince (Monica) Smith; grandchildren, Aaron, A.J., Zach, Daniel, Lucas, Jacob, Lisa, Donald, Evan, Jamey; great-grandchildren, Eira, Eli; sisters, Marilyn, Carol, Elaine, Arlene and many nieces and nephews.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and brother, Earl.
