Helen M. Rider of Davenport, Iowa passed away into God's open arms on March 19, 2024. Celebration of life services will be at Newcomb Presbyterian Church in Davenport on Tuesday, March 26 with visitation starting at 9:00 am until the service time of 11:00 am. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL beside her loving husband Carleton. "Now they will listen to the chimes together." Helen was born on August 9, 1934, the daughter of Esther and B. Lee Norton of Wilton, IA. She married Carleton A. Rider in Rock Island on October 31, 1964. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2007. Helen worked in the bookkeeping department for Advance Homes and retired after 26 years as office manager for Newman Drywall, Inc. Helen also served at Newcomb Presbyterian for several years and was very active with the Kid's Club.
Helen will be forever missed by those left behind, her daughter Christine Wieckhorst, son Jeffrey (Pamela) Sambdman; granddaughters, Ann Marshall, Robyn Taff, Audrey Henderson, and Jamie Sambdman; six great-grandchildren; brother Donald (Sue) Norton of Durant, IA and sister LeAnn (Donald) Rahlf of Wilton, IA and many friends.
Helen wanted to express her sincere gratitude to all her family and friends that added so much love and joy to her life, especially her granddaughter Jamie.
