Irene F Peterson

Irene Peterson passed from this life to eternity November 27 at the Davenport Good Samaritan Society Home. Visitation with family members will begin at 10 AM on Tuesday, December 8, at St. Mark Lutheran Church located at Third Street and Telegraph Road in Davenport with the funeral service starting at 11 AM. Irene was born June 15, 1915 in Iowa City. In 1935 she married Herbert S. Peterson at St. Mark where they continued their active membership for remainder of their lives. Irene served as a Luther League sponsor, Sunday School Teacher, and a faithful LCW Circle and Bible Study Group member. She retired from Davenport Bank and Trust after 18 years in the Safe Deposit Vault Department. In their retirement Irene and Herb enjoyed square dancing.

Irene is survived by her two children; Donna Messer (Terry) of Fayetteville, PA and Ronald Peterson of West Des Moines. In addition she is survived by three grandchildren; Paul Messer, Cindy Hetzler, and Cathy Peterson, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. In addition, her sister-in-law Melba Peterson, a nephew Ken Jones and a niece Leann Barth also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, grandsons Mark and John Messer, and daughter-in-law Pat Peterson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church 2363 West 3rd Street, Davenport, IA 52802. The family wishes to thank the Good Samaritan staff as well as the Genesis Hospice staff for their care and love for Irene in the late stages of her life.
