Irene Elnora Schroeder

Irene E. Schroeder, 86, of Bettendorf, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Bettendorf Health Care Center. Following cremation, in accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. She was born September 21, 1927 in Eldon, Iowa, a daughter of William and Ethel (Hart) Allman. On September 4, 1948 she married Richard C. Schroeder in Davenport. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2005.

Mrs. Schroeder was formerly employed by Peterson-Harned-Von Maur in the Drapery Department. Later, she was employed in the state of Wyoming as a cook for the school system. Her memberships included St. John’s United Methodist Church in Davenport, the Wheatland ((WY) United Methodist Church and the TOPS Club. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.

Survivors include her children: Gary (Maria) Schroeder in Mississippi, Grieg (Diane) Schroeder in Wyoming, Diane (Greg) Merry of Davenport and Allen (Sherry) Schroeder in Kentucky; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a sister, Virginia Anderson of Silvis, Illinois. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Schroeder; sisters, Mildred and Ruth and brothers, Paul and Orville.
