Private burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.

Jim was born in Lamar County, Alabama. He was united in marriage to Paulette G. Eickstaedt on December 28, 1974 in Moline, IL. He had been employed by John Deere Foundry prior to his retirement on September 30, 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette; son, James Lee Barnes; step-son, Brian Kennedy; step-daughter, Lori Emerson; grandchildren Rachel Emerson, Bryant, Tyler and Colin Kennedy and Olivia Hines; a great grandson, Archie Coffey, Jr.; brothers Wiley, Eugene and Sam Barnes and sisters Ruth Tittle and Lounell Cagle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Ora Mae (McKay) Barnes and a number of brothers and sisters.
