

James Patrick Boldt, 73, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2016 at the Kahl Home in Davenport, Iowa following an extended illness. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and private prayer service will be held for his immediate family. An open house in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 28th, 2016 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Circle Tap in Davenport. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.
Jim was born on September 16, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa to Clifford and Thelma Boldt.
Jim graduated from Davenport West, class of 1962. In 1966, Jim married Marilyn Bourquin. On April 30, 2016, the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
As a young man, Jim was proud to be a firefighter with the Davenport Fire Department. Jim was a member of Millwrights Union Local #2158. He retired in 2002 after a 30 year career at J.I. Case/CNH, East Moline. In retirement, Jim enjoyed travel, painting, golf and attending baseball games with friends and family. The family back yard pool was a favorite pastime for Jim. He especially cherished swimming with his grandson Sam.
Jim had an endless bucket of favors for friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. His generosity endeared him to many. Jim loved life! To know Jim was to know his infectious sense of humor. He would accept any excuse for a celebration, especially joining friends and family to cheer on the Cubs, Bears and Hawkeyes.
Surviving are his wife Marilyn of Davenport; his son and daughters Sean Boldt, of Davenport, Dawn Nowell (husband Rob) of Bettendorf, and Amy Boldt of Davenport; his grandson Sam Nowell of Bettendorf; his sisters Edna (Don) Tudehope of Sioux City and Ginger(Jim) Kaucher of Blue Grass; his sisters-in-law Vicki Boldt and Marsha Boldt. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers Mike, Neil, and sister-in-law Sharon Boldt.
The family wishes to pass along appreciation for the extraordinary care provided by the nurses and staff at the Kahl Home and Genesis Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Kahl Home in Davenport.
