James “Jim” A. Carson, 82, of Moline, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Weerts Funeral Home. Jim was born on October 18, 1939 in Seattle, WA. He moved to Moline as a young boy and was raised by George and Helen (Hartkemeyer) Carson. He was united in marriage to Susan Tunison on December 30, 1960 in Davenport. Jim was a 1957 graduate of Moline High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Western Illinois University and Master’s degree in education and business administration from the Florida institute of Technology. Jim retired as an Engineer from John Deere Harvester Works in 2000 after 37 years of employment.
Jim was an active volunteer for many organizations including the American Red Cross and Junior Achievement. Jim enjoyed fishing trips with family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, especially watching his grandchildren at their sporting events.
Survivors include his loving wife Susan; children, Pattie (Leigh) Olson, Cindy (Dave) Fowler, Pam Carson all of Moline; 4 grandchildren, Alex (Molly), Zack, Cam and Shannon; 1 great-grandchild, Quinn; a brother, Larry Carson and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Don.
