James "Jim" B. Holifield

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 5-8:00 P.M. at the Runge Mortuary. Services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at the Runge Mortuary. Jim was born on May 26, 1952 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Elza and Dorothy Holifield. He was a 1973 graduate from Southeast Missouri State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in music education. On August 11, 1973 he married Chris Brown and they went onto enjoy 48 years of marriage.

Jim’s love of music lasted his entire life. He spent 40 years being a music educator and an active member of the Quad City music community playing the bass trombone in several area bands. He also enjoyed reading, DIY projects, technology, but mostly loved spending time with his family, especially his grand kids.

Jim is survived by his wife, Chris; children, Sara (Grant Johnson) Holifield and David Holifield; grandchildren, Dexter and Atlas; and brother, John (Dianne) Holifield.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
