

James E. Jennings, 71, of Davenport, died Sunday, July, 18, 2010 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, surrounded by his loving family. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, July 23, 2010 at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7PM Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Runge Mortuary. James was born on June 29, 1939 in Rock Island, IL, the son of D. Max and Bernice (Wetch) Jennings. On November 11, 1961 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Burnside in Davenport.
He began his career in carpentry and worked as Superintendent at Waters Construction for many years and later worked at and retired from ABS.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, yard work and home projects. He liked helping others with projects and enjoyed having a cold one with friends. He served four years in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of the American Legion in Florida.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 48 years, Becky; son and daughter-in-law, James Adam and Jeri Jennings , Davenport; daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Matthew McQuillen; four loving granddaughters; three great grand children; twin sister, Shirley (Bob) Ester, Dotham, AL; and brothers, D. Richard (Sandy) Jennings, Moline and Rodney (Carol) Jennings, Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.
