

Davenport, IA A celebration of life service for James Franklin Roe of Davenport, will be held at a later date at the American Legion, Blue Grass. Jim requested there be no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded. Cunnick - Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.Jim passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010, at his home in Davenport. James Franklin Roe was born on September 28, 1928 in Andalusia,Il, the son of Enoch and Nancy (Roseman) Roe. He married Lulu Rose Walker on April 30, 1950 in Buffalo, IA. He worked at Dewey Portland for 18 years, he then owned and operated the Mobile Station in Blue Grass from 1962 to 1973. He retired as a manager for the Public Works in Blue Grass in 1990. Jim served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Koren Conflict. Jim was a member of the Blue Grass American Legion and a retiree from the Blue Grass Fire Dept.Survivors include his wife; Lulu Rose of Davenport, son; Robert (Carol) Roe of Long Grove, grandsons; Justin Roe of Blue Grass and Joshua (Danielle) Roe of Long Grove, a granddaughter Christine Pitcher of Davenport, four great-grandchildren, Andrew Roe, Amy, Mackinzie and Samantha, and a sister-in-law Alice May Stenger of Davenport.He was preceded in death by his parents, a son James Franklin Roe Jr., and brothers, William Roe, and Leslie Roe.Memorials may be made to the family in care of the Veteran Administration or the Blue Grass Fire Dept.
