Bettendorf, IA Memorial services for James Schroeder, 74, of Davenport, will be 10:30 am on Friday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. The family will greet friends on Friday from 9:30 am to service time at the Mortuary. Inurnment will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island. Cremation rites have been accorded. Cunnick - Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.James passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Trinity Bettendorf (formerly Trinity at Terrace Park).James Edward Schroeder was born on January 9, 1936 in Sabula,IA, the son of Edward and Esther (Rogers) Schroeder. He married Maxine Hoyer on July 15, 1960. He worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 32 years. He retired in 1996 as Chief of the Inventory Division. James served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1955-1959. He enjoyed running, golfing, hunting and refereeing basketball and vollyball.He was a member of the Illowa Marine Corp League and the Seagoing Marines. Surivors include his wife, Maxine of Bettendorf, daughters; Carrie (Randall) Jack and DeAnne (Marty) Wheat, both of Davenport. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Tess, Taylor, Madison and Claire.He was preceded in death by his parents.Memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Wisconsin Parkinsons Research Foundation.
