James Olyn Shell Sr.

James Olyn Shell Sr., 63, of Davenport, Iowa departed this life on Monday, August 20, 2018. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. A family gathering will be held one hour prior at the mortuary. He will be laid to rest in Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. James was born to James E. and Ida M. (Estes) Shell on December 24, 1954 in Louisville, Mississippi. He worked many odd jobs throughout his life in Davenport, Iowa. James loved the outdoors, music, and loved to cook and have his family outings. He enjoyed riding his bike all over town. He was a likeable person that never met a stranger. If he could help anyone, he would. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Terry O’Neil Shell and sister, Wilma Sue (Westerfield) Shell. In passing he leaves to mourn his devoted children: James Townsley, Jason Ruplinger, Tamara Shell, and James Shell Jr.; six grandchildren, sisters, Mary Shell of Davenport, Iowa and Vernessa McBride of Arkansas, brothers: Keith (Emily) Shell, Rudolph Shell (Denise Shell) and Odell Shell all of Davenport, Iowa, aunts: Hattie Hill of Justice, Illinois and Kathlene (Fred) Parks of Davenport, Iowa, uncle Jesse (Larri) Estes of Bellwood, Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
