

James Floyd Stroyan, 97, of Davenport Iowa passed away on April 15, 2025, at Bettendorf Health Care, Bettendorf Iowa. Per Jim’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service with military honors will be held at a later date at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.rungemortuary.com.
James was born on February 29, 1928, in Davenport Iowa to Samuel F. and Doris Mae (Wheeler) Stroyan. He served his country by joining the United States Army. James was united in marriage to Janyce Stanlake on May 13, 1989, in Davenport Iowa. He retired from Ralston Purina after 15 years of service.
James had a passion for working on, painting, servicing and buying cars. He at one point owned his own body shop. He also enjoyed playing cards with family, golfing and playing pool. He was known to never refuse a Harris Pizza or a chance to visit with family and friends. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting on his porch with Janyce.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janyce; children, Michael (Betty) Stroyan, Linda Trettin, (4E), Ron (Jackie) Stroyan, Darla (Joe) Baxter; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
James in preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard “Dick” Stroyan and Robert C. “Bob” Stroyan; son, Jerry Stroyan; daughter, Dana Jacobsen; son-in-law, Mike Jacobsen and grandsons, Jacob Jacobsen and Donnie Sisco.
