James "Jim" Preston Worton

James "Jim" P. Worton, 84, of Davenport passed away on Friday July 14, 2023 at his home. Per his wishes he will be cremated. A Celebration of life service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the Walcott Legion. Online condolences may be left at www.weertsfh.com

Jim was born on June 18, 1939 in Davenport to Henry and Gwendolyn (Hoover) Worton. He was united in marriage to Penny Christiansen in 2014. James owned and operated Worton’s Pine Street Body Shop, a business handed down to him by his father.

Jim enjoyed race cars and motorcycle racing. He also enjoyed camping around the Quad Cities area, especially in Tipton. Cars were his passion, he could be found in his shop all hours of the day whether he was restoring cars or auto body work. He never met a stranger, and enjoyed time spent with family and friends and teaching his passion to the younger generation. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Penny; children, Tammy (Chris) Goss, Theresa (David) Spicer, Becky Worton, Shawn (Christin) Worton, Heather Worton, and Tyler Worton; 10 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 niece, 3 nephews, and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Beverly (Pat) Patterson, and his daughter Christine Gaskey.
