Janice E. Johnson

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Monday, December 29, 2025, at Faith First Community Church, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be held 1 1/2 hours prior to service. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be left to Faith First Community Church, or a charity of their choice. Janice was born July 2,1937 in Davenport, the daughter of Harold and Mary Gamble Eckstein. She was united in marriage to William E. Johnson on October 16, 1954, in Kahoka, MO. Janice and her husband enjoyed 60 years of marriage. He preceded her in death November 6, 2014.

Janice enjoyed camping, spending winters in Florida camping with friends during the winter, traveling, reading, playing BUNCO, working in her yard and decorating for the holidays… especially Christmas. She always looked forward to spending Christmas Eve with her Aunt Hazel and family. Janice was active in her church Faith First Community Church, formerly Faith United Church of Christ in Davenport, IA. Janice retired from Mississippi Bend AEA where she worked for 15 years as a school secretary at the Kinsman School.

Those left to celebrate her memory are three sons, Steven (Karen), Berryville, AR. David (Dyan) Waterloo, IA, and Christopher, Clearwater, FL. And two granddaughters Stephanie (Rob Thorsen) Johnson, San Diego, CA and Caroline Johnson, Shawnee KS and special friend, Carol Ginneberge, Milan, IL.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandson William Paul Johnson, and brother Robert Eckstein.
