Jeff was born April 28, 1966 to Will and Betty Totton in New Jersey. He had an older brother named Steve. They moved to Miami, Florida when Jeff was 2 years old and Steve was 4.
He was helping his friend build a shed in early 1990 when he was introduced to Cynthia, who was supposed to paint the shed. It turns out they were being set-up to meet. On November 22, 1991, Jeff and Cynthia were married. Because of his work, they lived in several different places: Florida, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Korea, back to Pennsylvania, and then Iowa. They would have celebrated their 30th anniversary on Nov. 22, 2021.
Jeff was affectionately known as the "gentle giant" (6'4") by his friends and relatives, he was always ready to lend a helping hand or buy someone a beer. He was a die-hard Steelers fan and could almost always be seen wearing something of the Steelers.
He worked for the military, starting with the Air Force, then later switching to a QASAS program with the Army. He was a very dedicated worker and would often work through lunch to get things done. He was surrounded by equally dedicated and loyal people, they had become like a second family to him and many of them remained life-long friends.
He enjoyed reading and watching shows on Netflix, as well as going to casinos and concerts with his buddies. Over the last few years, he got interested in selling items on eBay. He and his wife would go to estate sales on the weekends to look for antiques or vintage items. He was planning to retire in December 2022, and he and his wife were going to buy a camper and visit as many states as possible.
His mother passed away when Jeff was in his early 20's, and his father passed away in 2005, shortly before Jeff had heart surgery for a valve replacement. He had a 2nd heart surgery many years later but it was an easier process (TAVR). In 2018, he had to undergo dialysis treatment, but just a few months later, a match was found and he had kidney surgery. It was like he was a teenager again and he had so much energy, and would do all sorts of handyman type stuff around the house. He had gotten both vaccines by April 2021 and was waiting to get a booster shot when he got Covid in mid October.
Those cherishing his memory are his heartbroken wife, Cynthia Totton; their only son, Julian Totton; his only brother, Steve Totton, in Pembroke Pines, FL. His parents-in-law, Ramon and Frances Zaldarriaga, in Irving, TX loved him like a son and prayed the rosary for him every night the moment they found out he got Covid-19.
