

Jill A. Cook, 61, of Davenport, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with a cancerous brain tumor. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 12:00 pm in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, from 4 pm until 7 pm at the mortuary. In keeping with her wishes, cremation rites will take place following the services and a private family inurnment will take place in the Walcott Cemetery, Walcott, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davenport Metro USBC WBA or the University of Iowa, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Jill was born September 2, 1954, the daughter of Clemens J. and Marvella ( Ruwe) Meyer. She grew up in Walcott and became a receptionist for over twenty years with Connecticut Mutual/Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. She enjoyed local and yearly national bowling tournaments for more than forty years and was inducted into the Davenport Bowling Hall of Fame in 2008. She was a devoted mother and adored being a grandmother and treasured friend to all. Jill married Thomas C. Cook in October 1973 and they are the proud parents of a son, Charles J. Cook and daughter, Carey L. Cook. Those left to honor her memory include her son, Charles J. (Lisa) Cook; daughter, Carey L. Cook (Louis Behrens); sister, Mary Jo (Larry) Southwick; brothers John and Marty Meyer; granddaughter, Dallas Cook; step granddaughter, Alexis Price; a niece, a nephew; several cousins and her former husband, Thomas C. Cook. Jill was preceded in death by her parents. Her family would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support from friends and family over the past two years.
