

Joann K. Ruggeberg, born on October 14, 1940, passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 85. Per her wishes, she has donated her body to the University of Iowa and no funeral services will be held. Online, condolences and fond memories may be expressed at www.WeertsFH.com
Throughout her life, Joann worked a variety of jobs. She married Ronald Ruggeberg on December 11, 1981, in Manteno, IL, and they shared many cherished years together until his passing in 2023.
Joann adored spending time with her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. She had a passion for gardening, especially floral gardening, where she found solace and happiness with her hands in the dirt. She was involved in her community as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and helped many others on their personal journeys. Joann was known to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to anyone who would listen, and she enjoyed blues and R&B music. She was also an avid attendee of the YMCA.
She is survived by her son, Matt Vanduyne; daughter, Vicky Vanduyne; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Steve (Bonnie) Earling and Bill (Alice) Earling.
Joann was preceded in death by her mother, Zola; father, John; husband, Ronald; one son, Pete Vanduyne; two brothers, and one sister.
Joann's legacy is one of resilience, devotion, and a profound love for family and community. She is already deeply missed by those who knew her.
