John was born August 29, 1975, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Marty Morrow and Ronald Coons. He was united in marriage to Carrie Moorman on December 27, 1997, in Davenport.
John worked as a Truck driver for numerous Trucking companies over the last 30 years. He cherished time with his family and his numerous friends, most of whom became family. John had a great appreciation for God's beauty in nature, especially while driving over the road. Bowling, watching sports events, helping out in his community and traveling all over the road whether in his semi or on his motorcycle, were among his favorite pastimes. He was an avid Washington Red Skins/Commanders, Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. John would have given you the shirt off of his own back. He wore his heart on his sleeve and had a great love for his community. He was the equal opportunity man. Those that know, knew, some referred to him as a big teddy bear. He became the Legendary Sully everyone is talking about.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 27 years, Carrie Coons; his children, Sean (Hannah) Coons and Abigail (Dewane Kesling) Coons; bonus children, Jamie (Scott) Stockton and Zahida (Albert/Bonnie) Smith; grandchildren, Elainah, Edwin, John, and Archie; many fur grandchildren; parents, Marty (Danny) Marrow and Ronald (Barbara) Coons; siblings, Roger (Karen) Jacobs, Michael Jacobs, Ashley Hines, Justin (Sarah) Morrow, Bill (Chris) Coons, Mathew (Brooke) Coons, Dustin Coons and Jason Tutor; step grandmother, Barb Thompson; in-laws, Douglas Moorman and Pamela (Chuck) Strobbe; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as many extended family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd (Lois) Thompson and Harold (Margaret) Coons; uncle, Butch Thompson; aunts, Tammy Thompson and Debra Coons; and in-law, Lucas Hines.
