

There will be no funeral services for Karen Kaye Hackett, 68, of Davenport IA. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Karen passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Bettendorf Health Care in Bettendorf, IA. after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements.Karen Kaye Lucas was born in Davenport on February 25, 1943, the daughter of Andrew and Wilma (Ewert) Lucas. She graduated from Davenport Central High School and attended Marycrest College for nursing. She married Dale Hackett in 1967. She worked in nursing for several years and later worked as a realtor in the Quad Cities. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother.Karen will be remembered most for the pride she took in her home. She had an amazing talent to make every home she lived in beautiful. She appreciated many forms of art and was a talented and gifted artist that excelled in painting and stained glass.Karen cherished many lasting friendships from high school, of which was her very special friendship with Sharon Hickenbottom. Karen’s family wishes to thank Sharon for her unwavering patience, kindness and devotion to their mother’s care. Especially for the fun times and laughter Sharon brought to all of us. Angels are truly here on earth disguised as best friends.Karen’s family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Bettendorf Health Care Center for their care and compassion. Her eyes sparkled when she spoke of the love and kindness that the staff and many residents showed to her.She is survived by her two daughters: Kristin (Dr. Brian) Brill of St. Petersburg, FL and Wendy (Matt) Holub of Solon, IA; three grandchildren: Austin, Keegan and Nicholas of Solon, IA.
