

The funeral mass for Kathleen E. (Kay) Hammond, 92, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 East Rusholme St., Davenport. Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Services will be followed by a luncheon, also at the church.

Mrs. Hammond died Friday at her home, surrounded by her children. She was born to Thomas and Anna Wall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1918 and married Jess A. Hammond in 1940, who preceded her in death in 1986. She retired from Bendix, Corp., where she calibrated instruments.
Mrs. Hammond, her husband and family were life-long volunteers at area Girls Scout Camps. Later in life she was known for making quilts for needy babies and the homeless, as well as for her all beloved children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas A. (Caroleen) Hammond of Phoenix, and Michael P. (Priscilla) of Indianapolis; daughters Patricia (Gail Albers) Hammond of Estes Park, Colo.; Sandra (Michael) Stegen of Phoenix; and Susan Hammond of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law Margery Wall of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers, Raymond Wall of Hawthorne, Fla., and Thomas Wall of Cedar Rapids; and her sister, Leone Hasley of Cedar Rapids.
