Kathy S. Smith, 64, of Davenport, IA, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the last half hour (12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) designated for family and guests to speak and share stories, Wednesday, April 21, at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. Kathy was born October 6, 1956, to Thomas and Clara “Sue” Anderson in Winfield, AL. She graduated from Moline High School in 1975. Kathy worked in Information Technology with the Iowa Department of Human Services for over 30 years, until retirement in 2018. In her free time, she enjoyed crafting, swimming, reading, and most of all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Kathy was very involved with the Gilda’s Club and the YMCA, where she liked to teach water aerobics.
Kathy will be missed by her children; Steve (Leslie) Smith of Davenport, IA, Jeremy (David Guerrieri) Smith of Galena, OH, and Patches Fessel of Davenport; four grandchildren: Avery, Jordyn, Elizabeth, and Ben; her mom, Clara “Sue” (Ted) Karlix; a sister, Gloria “Jane” Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and her special dear friends: Kathy & Tommie Smith and Vicki Miller & family.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, and a brother, Thomas “Timothy” Anderson.
