

Kenneth F. Kremer, 82, of Woodhull, IL, formerly of Davenport died peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2017 at University Hospital in Iowa City. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 pm, Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Sunday, June 25 at the mortuary. Burial with military honors will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Genesis Cardiovascular Group, 1236 E. Ken was born December 3, 1934 in Davenport. He attended grade school in Cascade, IA and at St. Paul the Apostle in Davenport. He later attended St. Ambrose Academy, graduated from Davenport High School and attended St. Ambrose College. In July, 1955 Ken married Mary Kay Skahill in Davenport. During their marriage they had 3 daughters: Mary “Chris” Harmsen, Jannette “Jan” West, and Barbara “Barb” Cook, all of Davenport. On May 28, 1994 he married Constance “Connie” Peterson in Woodhull. Their family includes Connie’s son Mark Peterson of Galesburg, IL, daughters Andrea Friedericks of Downs, IL and Janeen Meyer of DeWitt, IA. Ken was employed the majority of his adult life at the Bendix/Litton/Northrup Gumman, presently Cobham, in Davenport. He started his career with the company in 1955 working in design engineering department on new product designs of military aircraft instruments and oxygen breathing equipment. Midway through his career he transferred to the quality engineering department where he reached the position of Senior Quality Engineer. Ken retired in 2006, after a rewarding career of more than 50 years. A lifelong lover of aviation, Ken has taken leave of us to soar in the air, going to new heights. He served in the Naval Reserves from 1953 to 1961, from which he received an honorable discharge. Ken’s past and present memberships include Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Loyal Order of the Moose, Davenport Elks Club, Bendix Management Club and the Bendix/Cobham Retiree’s Club. He worked with Junior Achievement. He also coached girl’s fast pitch softball for many years. Ken enjoyed many years of family celebrations and outings, especially his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He and Connie also enjoyed travel, camping, dancing, and life in general. He was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa, and great- grandpa. He loved a good joke, coffee with his buddies, special lunches with his family and dad/daughter date nights. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Connie; family: Chris Harmsen, Jan (Jeff) West, Barb Cook, Janeen (Terry) Meyer, Andrea (Raef) Friedericks, Mark (Kris) Peterson; grandchildren including: Jill (Matt) Trannel, Ryan (Manisha) Harmsen, Jacob West, Kyle West, Eric (Kelly) Cook, Lucas (Stacy) Cook, Ben Cook, Whitney (Scott) O’Sullivan, Alex Peterson, Megan Peterson, Madison Sottos, Sadie Sottos, Adelynne Meyer and Kennick Meyer and great-grandchildren Hannah Harmsen and Savanna Wright; and two sisters: Dorothy Hicks and Betty Summers as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and a brother. May they rest in peace. We love you Dad.
